Traumatic Brain Injury or TBI is a disruption in the normal function of the brain that can be caused, for example, by a blow to the head or it can also occur when an object penetrates the skull.

TBI can have many symptoms, some of which occur immediately, some of which may occur weeks later. These may include:

  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Problems with speech
  • Sensitivity to Light/Sound
  • Mood Changes
  • Difficulty Sleeping
  • Confusion

Moderate/severe TBI can have prolonged/ongoing changes in a person with injuries sustained at the base of the skull possibly causing damage to the nerves that emerge directly from the brain.

Generally upon experiencing a TBI Doctors will assess the situation quickly with abilities being scored from 3 to 15 on the Glasgow Coma Scale. The higher the number the less severe the injuries.

Most people who have experienced a severe TBI will require rehabilitation and Neuro Case Management can help to ensure that this is provided to the highest standard. NCMUK can complete an Initial Needs Assessment and then progress on organising the required Care via its Team of highly trained professionals and contacts within the Care Industry including:

  • Case Manager
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physiotherapist

  • Neuro Psychiatrist
  • Neuro Psychologist

NCMUK can also interview, DBS check, train and supervise a Team of Care Staff who will meet the Clients specific needs. NCMUK also have their own Payroll Department that can ensure that its Payroll needs are met including Pension, NI etc.
